Map of local Usenet groups and hierarchies

The map below is supposed to help people locate regional newsgroups.

Move the mouse onto a red marker to learn about groups for the area. Zoom into the map if you find it difficult to click a link of an info window. Best follow links by opening them in a new tab or window, the back button of your browser will only bring you back to the map at the lowest zoom level. A group may not be available on your news server, try a search engine like Newzbot or NPSE to learn about servers carrying a particular group. Some groups may be orphaned, find out at Google Groups whether there were any recent discussions (however, Google does not carry all groups). Please contact me if you want other newsgroups and hierarchies included.

JavaScript must be activated in order to access the map. Check these browser requirements if the map still doesn't show up. The map is displayed using the Google Maps API.
