Archive websites
This lists sites on the Web which offer some sort of browsing or search functionality
on Usenet articles.

Google Groups — by far the biggest public archive of text newsgroups,
with extensive search options.

NNTP2HTTP — hierarchies at/de/es/fr/it/nl/pl/uk
since June 2003, also several article collections donated by individuals.
Full text search, author profiles, RSS feeds.

Archivum.info — has stored articles from various international
newsgroups since August 2005.
Does not show original messages.

GATAGO.com — text group articles for major hierarchies.
Claims to have about 23 million unique articles as of October 2006, so it probably has started
archiving not too long before that.
Offers author profiles.
Uses Google site search to provide full text search.
Shows original messages after the visitor identifies the text in a captcha image.

NNSeek — text group articles starting July 2006.
Offers full text search which can be restricted to certain groups.
Site became publicly accessible on September 22nd, 2006.

Usenet article lookup by message ID — scope of underlying archive unknown,
provided by Howard Knight.

http://www.mailarchive.ca/ — a number of selected English language groups,
archived since May 2003.

Article collections
This section lists websites and FTP servers providing article collections,
mostly text files (mbox format or something similar) with articles from a
certain period of time for a certain group or hierarchy.

Articles from 1999 to 8/2004 from the regional newsgroup bln.jugend.talk (Berlin, Germany).
One ZIP file with one mbox file per month.

For each newsgroup, one gzipped tar file with the group directory.
