Note that I'm not able to answer all mails. I may not answer in a timely fashion. So please do not spend too much time writing a lengthy mail. If your mail is concise, it's more likely that I'll answer.

Before sending me any attachments, please ask me first if I really need them. They also make it more likely that I never see the mail because of spam filtering.
If you want me to update one of my bookmark lists, please read these remarks first.
Please do not send me HTML mail. My mail program does not display it and I'm not willing to take the time to save the mail and open it in a Web browser. Besides, HTML mails are sometimes mistakenly flagged as spam, so I may get the mail but never discover it in the huge pile of spam mails.
I get a lot of link exchange requests. I usually don't like those sites because they have little interesting or unique information on them. So if you just need a lot of incoming links to your more or less empty site so that you'll get more traffic from search engines, ultimately increasing your ad income, don't bother.
I have stopped answering generic Java questions. More and more people seem to mistaken me for a free helpdesk on all kinds of Java-related topics. Just because I link to some product does not mean that I am an expert or willing to provide free email support for it. Try a newsgroup instead — pick the right one and read its FAQ (if available, see FAQs.org). If your question is not covered in the FAQ, try Google Groups with some keywords describing your problem. Google Groups archives old newsgroup articles, and your problem may have been solved in one of them already. If you still have no solution, post your question to the appropriate newsgroup. I read some Java newsgroups, and if I have time and know how to help you, I'll answer. Otherwise, someone else may be able to help you. Should any of the answers be wrong, someone will probably point it out.
